This braised tofu made with silken tofu is similar to our traditional Hong Shao Tofu, but that version of the dish is made with a medium or soft tofu. Braised tofu with vegetable 瓦煲豆腐 is an authentic home-cooked dish popular among the Chinese household. It is normally braised in a clay pot which adds an earthy aroma to the dish. Dubu jorim is a tofu dish that's braised in a simple soy sauce-based sauce.

  8. Get 1 tsp cornstarch mix with 1tbsp water

Steps to make braised tofu:
  1. . Remove tofu from package and cut into 6 equal slices
  2. Beat egg and 1 Tbsp cornstarch ( you can add pinch of salt and pepper if you wish )
  3. preheat the non stick pan
  4. dip each tofu slices into the egg mixtures and slowly arrange well in the medium heated pan
  5. dry fry till brown on both sides
  6. mix the sauce mixtures and add to the tofu sprinkles with the green onions
  7. Ready to serve and ENJOY!

Chinese braised tofu is a really easy dish using common Chinese pantry ingredients, yet packed with big flavors. This simple braised tofu is one of my trusted recipes that I make again and again. You'll find a version of this quicker-than-quick soy-braised tofu on many Korean tables as a banchan, or small. I love the braised tofu served at Chinese restaurants, but at home I like to make it healthier (without the deep frying). In my version, I use a lot of vegetables to make it more filling for a lot less calories.
